Happy Friday my friends, and happy birthday to me!
Unless you’re turning a first grader who simply cannot wait to share with the world that he’s turning another year older, it’s not really a common thing to announce that it’s almost your birthday.
Nowadays, we tend to keep our traps shut in hopes no one will try to organize that awkward birthday lunch at work or look at you with skepticism when they check your ID at the wine store and you JUST KNOW they’re judging the streaks of gray showing already.
Instead, we secretly stalk our Facebook page looking for well-wishes from people we haven’t seen in years and acquaintances we barely even know, or play the stoic birthday girl who tries to mask the not-so-secret disappointment when the birthday flowers don’t arrive at the door.
But at this stage in the game, you all probably know me better than most of them do anyway, so why not share in a little early celebrating together! 
and let’s just make sure it involves German Chocolate Cake. (...)
